O’neill Womens Focus 4/3mm Chest Zip Steamer is a premium level, ultra stretchy and comfy surfing wetsuit. Compiled with GBS and taped seams and internal Ultraflex firewall for improved thermal retention. Mashing Ultraflex DS Neoprene with Ultraflex Firewall lining into the Focus you end up with a wettie that’s warm, real warm. The lining works by helping to speed up better reflect heat generated by the body by increasing the air-gap, while simultaneously wicking water away from your body keeping you extra warm.
With GBS and taped seams and a chest zip you can be confident the Bahia 3/2 has great water sealing properties as well. This style of seam means your neoprene is never fully penetrated by the stitching (just going halfway through – see our seams blog for a better explanation) and uses glue and taping to reinforce the seams and ensure water can’t get through.
We’d recommend this cut of wettie for winter for anyone from Queensland (3/2mm would work there too, depends how much you feel the cold.) and through NSW and into Victoria – deep Victorian winter will be a stretch but with hoods, gloves and boots you’ll be able to push it.
To get the most out of your O’neill Womens Focus 4/3mm Chest Zip Steamer we recommend washing it with Aussie made Wetsuit Wash between uses to remove salt, bacteria, chlorine and grime and read our Wetsuit Maintenance Blog.
O’Neill Women’s Focus 4/3mm ChestZip Steamer Features:
- UltraFlex DS Neoprene 4/3mm: O’Neill’s supple high-performance super-stretch neoprene that has as much stretch as it does warmth (lots). The only downside is when you’re reading this description you can’t touch it in your hands because its a feel to behold.
- GBS and Taped Seams: This stitching helps keep the water out with reinforcing tape while allowing you to move with ease. Stitching is one of the least stretchy components of a wetsuit, so eliminating it helps to increase its stretch. Learn more about seams with our blog.
- Chest Zip: When it comes to performance technologies, if you’re going to have a wetsuit with a zipper then this is the way to go. Better water sealing and overall flexibility than a back zip wetsuit. You can learn more about how that works on our wetsuit entry systems blog.
- MeshSkin Chest/Back Panels: A rubberised external jersey with hydrophobic properties to help eliminate heat-loss from your core through the wicking action. A wet panel sheds heat 25x faster than a dry panel so by placing these panels on your vitals you’re greatly mitigating heat loss from your core.
- 3x Water Drain System: This system naturally drains water that enters the wetsuit to keep you feeling dry and light when in the water.
- Fluid Flex Firewall: A soft and lightweight neoprene that will keep you warm and provide good stretch.
- Seamless Paddle Zones: Provides optimal comfort by eliminating rubbing that often causes rashes and chafing.
