O’Neill Women’s Bahia 3/2mm Chest Zip Steamer is O’Neill’s top of the line wettie for the Bahia range, constructed with GBS and taped seams and internal Ultraflex firewall for improved thermal retention. By pairing the Ultraflex DS Neoprene with Ultraflex Firewall lining you end up with a wettie that’s pretty warm. The lining works by helping to speed up the generation of heat between the neoprene and your skin while simultaneously wicking water away from your body keeping you extra warm.
With GBS and taped seams and a chest zip you can be confident the Bahia 3/2 has great water sealing properties as well. This style of seam means your neoprene is never fully penetrated by the stitching (just going halfway through – see our seams blog for a better explanation) and uses glue and taping to reinforce the seams and ensure water can’t get through.
We’d recommend this cut of wettie for winter for anyone from Queensland through NSW. You might want to opt for a 4/3mm towards southern NSW and further south.
To get the most out of your O’Neill Women’s Bahia 3mm Chest Zip Short Sleeve Steamer we recommend washing it with Aussie made Wetsuit Wash between uses to remove salt, bacteria, chlorine and grime and read our Wetsuit Maintenance Blog.
O’Neill Womens Bahia 3/2mm Chest Zip Steamer Features:
- Ultraflex DS Neoprene: UltraFlex DS Neoprene is a flexible neoprene with a stretch factor of 150%, intended to be resistant to wear from velcro and fingernails making it a little more durable than O’Neill’s high-performance neoprenes like TBX-3.
- Chest Zip: When it comes to performance technologies, if you’re going to have a wetsuit with a zipper then this is the way to go. Better water sealing and overall flexibility than a back zip wetsuit. You can learn more about how that works on our wetsuit entry systems blog.
- GBS & Taped Stitching: This style of stitching doesn’t completely penetrate through the neoprene, using glue and then a flexible tape to reinforce the seam making it more watertight. More information is available on our wetsuit seams blog to figure out what sort of stitching is best for you.
- Seamless Paddle Zones: For your added comfort these zones of fabric will increase flexibility through the shoulder for paddling and reduce chafing.
- Ultraflex Firewall: An internal fleece for improved thermal retention that wicks water away from the skin.
