Billabong Boys 302 Revolution Chest Zip Steamer is an ideal surfing wettie that boasts sealed seams, chest zip and their premium neoprenes for 2021. We love that the external super light foam jersey is made with up-cycled car tyres.
Billabong has laid split-thickness neoprene in the Furnace Absolute as to optimise stretch and warmth. Laying 33% thinner, 2mm rubber in the paddle zones (such as your shoulders) makes the suit less taxing and laying the thicker, 3mm through the low-stretch means warmth.
Glued and Blind-Stitched seams have been used on the Billabong Boys 302 Revolution Chest Zip Steamer to create a sealed seam with the level of stretch required for performance surfing. So, the seam is stretchy, the SuperLight 280 neoprene is extremely stretchy, so what about the zipper? The zip is the only part of a wetsuit that can’t stretch and this physical limitation was what birthed the chest zip!
To get the most out of your Billabong Boys 302 Revolution Chest Zip Steamer we recommend washing it with Wetsuit Wash & reading our maintenance guide.
Billabong Boys 302 Revolution Chest Zip Steamer Features:
- Furnace Graphene Lining: Billabong’s premium internal lining made from carbon graphene, featured all the way up to their $600+ wetsuits. Furnace lining is hydrophobic and is stitched in a way that creates countless air-bubbles in the lining, in-turn improving on thermal retention! It dries quickly too.
- Uninterrupted Front and Back Panel: Wetsuit stretch is a % function. As we’ve mentioned above, this suit is made up of a 250% stretch foam.. That is to say that 1m can stretch to 2.5m without permanent deformation. If you chuck a seam in the middle of that panel, it won’t stretch to 2.5m because seams don’t stretch as much as neoprene. Therefore, by removing almost all the seams from your front and back means the greatest possible stretch!
- Superflex 280 Jersey: Stretchy, light and quick-drying nylon jersey laid through the high-stress panels. Stretching to 280% its resting state and made from upcycled tyres. Need we say more.? No, but we’re gonna.
- AX1 Jersey: A more durable, less supple version of the Superflex 250 – used in the low-stress panels.
- Strategic Seam Placement: Billabong has minimised the total number of seams which in turn creates a more flexible suit. The same notion as the uninterrupted torso panels!
- Glued & Blind-Stitched Seams: The most cost-effective performance seam in the wet suit world. Billabong uses a twin-needle blind-stitch to mitigate pin-holes whilst ensuring the best seal and durability of the Absolute Steamers. Intrigued? Check out our wetsuit seams blog.
- Chest Zip Entry: A no-brainer for any performance wetsuit as it’s warmer and dryer but drastically increases the entire suit’s stretch factor. Read more.
- Long-Sleeve: ?Gives extensive coverage for effective thermal retention and protection from UV rays.
- Fabric: 80% Neoprene 20% Nylon
- Variable thicknesses: The wetsuit is constructed using 2mm thickness in the high-stress areas (such as the armpit area) and thicker 3mm neoprene in exposed areas such as the large front and back panels
